Time to bleed again: Steve Jolley is back
March 2, 2006 (Official Press Release)

The MetroStars announced today that they have acquired defender Steve Jolley from FC Dallas in exchange for their natural 2007 Fourth Round Supplemental Draft Pick. Jolley rejoins the MetroStars after having played 104 games during his four-year tenure with the Metro from 2000-2003. His 104 games played ranks third all-time in team annals.

"Once again, we've added an experienced player and one who truly wants to be a member of the MetroStars organization," said MetroStars President and General Manager Alexi Lalas. "During his years in exile, Steve has grown into a better player and person. I'm sure our fans are excited to welcome back one of the most popular personalities ever to don the Red and Black."

Jolley broke into MLS with the Los Angeles Galaxy, who selected the College of William and Mary grad with the 9th overall pick in the '97 SuperDraft. After three-plus years with the Galaxy, he was dealt to the MetroStars on April 19, 2000 for a 2001 second round draft choice. An undisputed fan-favorite amongst "It's not often you get a second chance to come home," said the 30-year-old Jolley, who took home both the team's and the league's USSF Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2002. "On and off the field, the entire time I spent with the MetroStars organization was an unbelievably positive experience for me. This is a wonderful opportunity for me to play for a coach and front office staff I know exceptionally well in front of all my friends and family once again."

Following the 2003 season, the MetroStars traded Jolley to FC Dallas in exchange for defender Tenywa Bonseu and a 2004 third round pick (which was used on former MetroStars goalkeeper Zach Wells). While with FC Dallas, Jolley played in 41 games from 2004-2005, including 13 last season. In his 9-year MLS career, the Virginia Beach, VA native has appeared in 211 games, starting 196 of them.
